Marina Danielle “Dani” Gitchell, 66, of Jonesborough, TN, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at
Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN. Born on April 10, 1948, Dani was the oldest daughter of
John D. Gitchell and Marie R. Gitchell of Harrisonburg. Dani is preceded in death by her father and also
by her brother, Joe Gitchell.
In addition to being survived by her mother, Dani is survived by her two children, Tory A. Kemp and wife,
Natalie, of Charlottesville; Taryn H. Kemp of Virginia Beach, and one grandchild, Kadence Kylie Moss of
Virginia Beach; two sisters, Andrée Gitchell and husband John Raines of Bridgewater, and Christa
Gitchell and husband Bruce Krall of Broadway; one niece, Lindsay Reed of Virginia Beach and three
nephews, John Hunter Raines of Harrisonburg, Stuart Lucas of Mt. Crawford and Jonathan Lucas of
Harrisonburg. Also surviving is Dani’s life partner, Charlie Clutteur and his two daughters, Amanda Shipe

Dani attended Virginia Commonwealth University where she majored in theatre. She was passionate
about the arts. She was an avid gardener; enjoyed caring for others and especially loved to make people
laugh. She was a great believer in “paying it forward” in life and was generous with her time and her
resources. She had a very strong faith in her Lord and especially loved caring for seniors where ever she
met them.
In keeping with Dani’s wishes, an informal gathering of family and friends to celebrate her life will be
held at Kyger Funeral Home on Saturday, March 28 from 7 – 8:30 p.m. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, Dani’s wish would be that you donate to the charity of your choice, preferably to a
senior citizen organization. She was passionate about her dogs and would also welcome your support of
animal rescue foundations.

Charlie,
We were so sorry to hear of Dani's sudden passing. I remember the first time I met her. I told Dave, this one is a pistol...I like her!!! We just "clicked". She was always such a delight. She always had a smile on her face. Every time you and her would stop by the office, it always brought a smile to my face. SHE always brought a smile to my face. I count it an honor to have known her. Not only did we consider her a customer, we considered her a friend. She will be missed very much. Please don't make yourself a stranger, Charlie. We would love to see you. God Bless,
Dave and Tracy Peters
