Mrs. Mayme Jean Vicars entered into rest June 10, 2015. Mrs. Vicars was born in Scott County, Virginia on August 28, 1928. A daughter of the late D. Witt and Cosby Scalf Lawson, andher step-mother Ruby Benton Lawson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John Fred Vicars 2008.

Surviving are her daughters, Jane (David) Portwood and Ruth Davenport of Chattanooga, Tennessee. One son, John Vicars of Gray, with whom she made her home. Two grandchildren, Daniel (Julie) and Sarah Portwood of Chattanooga. One sister, Marge (Jack) Miller of Madisonville, TN. Many nieces and nephews and several special cousins. Two family friends and caregivers, Betty Nunley and Carolyn Engle.

The family would like to thank the staff at Greystone Healthcare and Caris Hospice of Johnson City for all of their kindness and care of Mayme.

Graveside services will be held at Snyder's Memorial Gardens on June 13, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Elmer Lester officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the charity of ones choice.
