Barbara Wingo Fassler, 88, formerly of 1300 Orleans St., Johnson City, TN, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026, in Erwin, TN. Born June 24, 1937, in Richlands, VA, Barbara was the cherished daughter of the late Joseph Smith and Roberta Mitchell Wingo, and the beloved sister of the late Delton Roger Wingo.
Barbara's legacy is carried forward by her devoted family, including her son Len Fassler, her daughter Elizabeth Fassler Alexander, her son-in-law Michael James Alexander, and her treasured grandchildren Tristan, Jacob, and Madalyn Griffith. Each one carries with them the indelible mark of her love and the cherished memories of times spent together.
A resident of Johnson City for four decades, Barbara shaped a home that exuded warmth and comfort. Her role as a homemaker was one she approached with dedication and pride, nurturing her family with a steadfast and gentle spirit that was the cornerstone of their lives.
Her unwavering faith in Christianity was a guiding force throughout Barbara's life, providing her with strength and solace, especially in her later years as she confronted advanced dementia with grace and courage.
Those who knew Barbara will fondly remember her as an embodiment of creativity and intellect. Her artistic talents were most evident in the beautiful paintings she created, each brushstroke telling a story of her perception and emotion. Additionally, Barbara's love of literature led her to become an avid reader and an exceptional conversationalist, always ready to engage in discussions that spanned a wide array of topics.
In lieu of a traditional service, Barbara’s family is opting for an intimate meal with family and friends.
