Billy Walter Cox, age 93, of Erwin, died June 8, 2025. A native of Erwin, TN, he worked and retired from CSX Railroad, as did his father, Clyde, and his grandfather, E.E. Johnson, a conductor.
He was a lifelong member of Erwin Presbyterian Church, as were his parents and grandparents.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, who knew each other throughout their childhood, his mother and father, Mildred and Clyde, his sister Ruth, and his brothers, David, Donald, and Edward.
He is survived by his son, David (Sharon), and his daughter Ruth (Jim), his grandchildren, Regina, Andrew, Deanna, and Bill, his great-grandchildren, Blake, Rylee, Lily, and Arthur, his brother, Jim, and his sister, Mary.
Thanks to the staff at The Waters for excellent care and hospice for acting so quickly.
