Billy Joe Snodgrass Sr., 88, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on April 17th, 2024 after an extended illness. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry, and Ina Mae (Hughes) Snodgrass; his brothers, John Bradley, Edwin, Allen, Merle, and Ronnie Snodgrass; and his sisters, Canzada Sneed, Helen Anderson, Betty Vaughan; his granddaughter, Letha Marie Snodgrass. He is survived by his wife of 67 years Peggy Sue (Davis) Snodgrass; his sons, Billy Joe Jr. (Vanessa), Dale (Linda), Mark (Tiffeney), Keith (Kimberly) Snodgrass, and his daughter, Tammy Williams (Todd); and eleven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, Joyce Lackey and Mary Ruth Laster (Eunice). Bill was a loving and committed husband and father. His life revolved around his family and he always took care of and protected all of his family. Bill was also an avid beekeeper. He would harvest honey and give it to family and friends. He loved to hunt and fish and he was a very talented Mechanic and Carpenter. He worked as a Rate Clerk for Mason and Dixon for over 20 years and then worked for AFG for over 14 years. He was a very committed Christian who loved the Lord and volunteered his time and efforts as a bus captain and bus driver for many years at Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church where he was a member for over 50 years. Bill also loved to ride motorcycles and he taught his children how to ride and bought them all a motorcycle as well. He also loved to shoot guns and collect guns and he taught all his children how to shoot. He was unwaveringly faithful to his wife and family. He always took care of his wife in every way as she did him. They were soulmates. Bill never saw a stranger and was always using his time and efforts to help others. He always planted a huge garden and when he harvested the vegetables, he would supply family and friends with all they could eat. His love for Christ showed through his actions every day. His life has had a wonderful impact on so many people and He will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 5, 2024, from 2:00-3:00 at Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church. A memorial service will immediately follow at 3:00, under the direction of Pastor John Herdman.
