Cecil "Allan" Bridges, 69, a beacon of love and selflessness, passed away on March 27, 2025, due to complications from cardiac and kidney failure at Johnson City Medical Center, TN. Born on October 24, 1955, in Martinsville, VA, he was the son of Ruby Elizabeth Bridges.
Allan lived a substantial portion of his life in San Diego, CA, embracing the coastal city for 42 years. It was there that he met his wife, Coleen Kay Bridges, and together they welcomed two children into their world, his son David Allan Bridges and his daughter, Megan Elizabeth Bridges. The Bridges family eventually planted roots in Johnson City, TN, where they welcomed their third child, Briana Leigh Bridges. Cecil is also survived by his furry grand dog, Otto Brody Bridges, who won his heart.
A man of Methodist faith, Allan was a member of the Gray United Methodist Church. His commitment to service included roles as a school volunteer, activity director at a Senior Living Center, member of Boy Scout Troop 240, the Gray Ruritan Club, and a volunteer with the Daniel Boone Little League. Cecil's legacy is marked not just by these titles but by the countless lives he touched through his kindness and willingness to go above and beyond for others.
An avid NASCAR enthusiast and San Diego Padres fan, Allan found joy in the simple pleasures of life. His true passion lay in offering his time and energy to help children, friends, and neighbors with any task that came his way. Described as loving, funny, selfless, and passionate, these words only scratch the surface of the man that Allan was. He left a lasting impression on all who knew him, embodying the qualities of an exceptional husband, father, friend, and community member. Allan Bridges will be profoundly missed, yet his generous spirit will continue to live on through the many lives he enriched.
Allan's family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Gray United Methodist Church. A funeral service to honor Allan’s life will follow, with Rev. Aaron Atchley officiating.
