Clarence Goodson, Jr. Obituary

Clarence C. Goodson, Jr., 90, passed away peacefully at home on March 20, 2025. Born into the loving family of the late Clarence C. and Lelan Goodson, Sr., Clarence was a lifelong resident of Johnson City.

A proud graduate of Science Hill High School, Clarence was a lifelong learner who attended East Tennessee State University before answering the call of duty to serve his nation in the United States Army. Following his military service, he dedicated many years of hard work to Piedmont Airport, where his commitment and friendly demeanor were well-known and appreciated.

Rooted in his faith, Clarence was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he found strength and fellowship. In his leisure time, he found joy in fixing up cars and meticulously crafting remote-controlled boats and airplanes, an activity that reflected his eye for detail and patience. His presence was also a staple at sports car shows, where he reveled in the camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts.

Predeceased by his beloved wife Joyce Goodson, sister Jean Cifaldi, and one stepson, Thomas Mount, Clarence's memory lives on through his sister Jo Ann Shaffer, three stepdaughters, Suzy Weston (Mike), Luanne Mascola, Kathy Click (Dan), grandchildren, Crystal Schaedel, Kellie Weston, Bryan Mascola, Kasey Weston, Thomas Mount, Tasha Mount, Paul Mount, Sarah Mount, and several great-grandchildren who continue to embrace the legacy of love and dedication he modeled.

An interment service honoring Clarence’s memory will be conducted on Friday, March 28, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the outside chapel at Monte Vista Burial Park.

In lieu of flowers, Clarence's family requests donations to be made to the Alzheimer's Association. www.alz.org
