David Ralph Morelock, age 74, of Gray, loving husband and father, went home to be with the Lord after a lengthy illness on Thursday, September 26, 2019, at Johnson City Medical Center.
David was born in 1945 in Greeneville, Tennessee, the son of the late Ralph and Nell Lee Morelock. He graduated from Chuckey-Doak High School in 1963. He proudly served in the U.S. Army National Guard Adjutant General's Corps, starting in 1965 as a Specialist 4th Class, with a transfer to the Army National Guard Reserve where he served until 1971, then in the Army National Guard 771st Maintenance Company until he was honorably discharged in 1975. He attended East Tennessee State University. He worked for Kingsport Press 42 years until he retired. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Soto-Rios.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of almost 50 years, Linda Maxine (Parsons) Morelock; three daughters – Candace Lasley and her husband Calvin, Toshia Kaar and her husband Jason, and Mary Butler and her husband Dustin; three grandsons and one granddaughter; his sister, Patsy Sherfey; and other nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will hold a graveside service on Monday, October 7, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at the new Mountain Home National Cemetery Annex Shelter, 215 Heroes Drive, Mountain Home, Tennessee.
In lieu of flowers, please support the charity of your choice.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to DaVita Tennessee Valley Dialysis (David loved them dearly). Also, the family would like to thank all the staff of the VA and Johnson City Medical Center, especially Nurse Jonathan in the step-down unit.
