Deanna Joyce Norton, affectionately known as Joyce, peacefully passed away on August 4, 2023, in Jonesborough, Tennessee, due to complications from kidney disease and diabetes. Born on May 22, 1954, in Greeneville, Tennessee, Joyce was a beacon of love, laughter, and kindness, leaving a lasting impact on everyone she met.
Joyce was the beloved daughter of the late Fern Dickerson Green and Carl Lloyd Dickerson. She was the sister of Steve Dickerson (Connie), and Tommy Dickerson (Robyn), and the aunt of the late Joey Dickerson. She was the loving wife of the late Ray Norton and the devoted mother to Travis Tipton and Nick Tipton and stepmother to Johnny Norton and Todd Norton. As a grandmother, she loved her grandchildren, Ty, Raelyn, Lane, Brayden, and Bryson with unconditional love.
Her family was her joy, and she leaves behind a large and loving family who will forever cherish her memory.
Joyce was a woman of strength and determination. She earned her GED in 1983, a testament to her tenacity and commitment to personal growth. Her work as a caregiver at Greene Valley Developmental Center was a testament to her compassionate nature. Her colleagues and those under her care admired her dedication and unwavering kindness.
Joyce loved the children in her life. The youthful energy, laughter, and innocence they brought into her life brought her immense joy. She was the favorite neighbor, known as Ms. Joyce, to many and always had a smile and a kind word for the children in her life.
Her family extends heartfelt gratitude to caregivers Anita, Lori, and Teresa for their unwavering dedication and compassionate care during Joyce's illness. Their hard work and commitment played a significant role in making Joyce's last years comfortable and peaceful.
Joyce was best described as friendly, funny, and kind. Her infectious laughter and warm personality drew people to her. She had a knack for making people feel comfortable and cherished. Joyce had a heart full of kindness, and she never hesitated to lend a helping hand to those in need.
In her passing, Joyce leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and laughter. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide her family and all those fortunate enough to have known her. Joyce's life was a testament to the power of love, the strength of the human spirit, and the beauty of kindness. She will be dearly missed.
