Edna Bartholomew Obituary

Edna Hettie Susannah Bartholomew, 92, of Johnson City, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at home on November 14, 2023. She was in the loving arms of her daughters. Born in Macungie, Pennsylvania, Edna's life was a testament to love, faith, and the joy found in family.

Preceded in death by her parents, Charles & Iva Measler, her husband, Bob Bartholomew, and her brother, Charles Measler, Edna is survived by a legacy of love through her six children: Dennis Bartholomew (Leah) of Lake City, FL, David Bartholomew (Rita) of Johnson City, TN, Gail Stokes (Joe) of Johnson City, TN, Lisa Bartholomew of Des Moines, IA, Amy Nelson (Bobby) of Johnson City, TN, and Sarah Goad of Johnson City, TN. She is also survived by her brother Harvey Measler (Corrine), 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, several nieces & nephews, and many others who adopted her as mom or grandma. Her heart loved them all.

Married on April 15, 1950, she and Bob embarked on a journey of love, establishing a family that became her greatest joy. She always wanted 6 children and they started their family right away. 1958, while their 2 boys were still small, they moved to Johnson City to help further the Bible teaching ministry that was so close to their hearts and where they were blessed with 4 daughters. Edna embraced her roles as a wife, mother, and grandmother with warmth and devotion, creating a home filled with love and care. Edna found solace and community at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Johnson City, where she joyfully shared her passion for the Bible with others.

In her leisure time, Edna enjoyed the simple pleasures of playing Scrabble and indulging in the world of literature. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family, earning her a reputation as a wonderful caretaker.

Edna Hettie Susannah Bartholomew's life was one well-lived, defined by love, faith, and the joy found in the company of family. As we remember her, let us celebrate the warmth she brought into our lives and the lasting impact of her caring and compassionate spirit.

Edna’s family greatly appreciates the care and empathy shown to her as well as her family by the Hospice care nurses, Russell, Brian, Heather, and others.
