Eleanor Ann Harris Ward, 71, a resident of Gray, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 5, as the result of a fall at her home. A native of Mayfield, Kentucky, Ellie graduated from Mayfield High School and Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky. After graduation, she moved to Titusville, Florida, where she met and married Richard Rawle. For more than 30 years she was a teacher and administrator in Titusville, finishing her career as the Assistant Principal of Astronaut High School. She was loved and admired by her students and peers alike. Following her retirement in Florida, she moved to Bristol, Virginia, where she married Doug Ward. In retirement, she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She was a positive spirit and an inspiration to everyone that she met.Ellie was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus Harris and Sara Harris Maddox. She is survived by her brother, Reverend Rufus Harris (Emily) of Locust Fork Alabama, nieces Laura Harris Twilley (Gene) and their 3 children of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Sara Harris Hammond (Will) of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, cousin and best friend, Dr. Eugene Harrell of Frankfort, Kentucky, and several other wonderful cousins and friends. She loved the Lord and was active in her local church.A Memorial Service will be held for Ellie at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 12, at Central Presbyterian Church in Bristol. A graveside service for the interment of her cremains will be held at a later date in Mayfield, Kentucky.
