Emerson “Buck” F. Henry, age 85, of Johnson City, Tennessee, passed away on March 27, 2026, at NHC Health Care of Johnson City.
Buck was born on January 18, 1941, in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, to the late Franklin E. and Catherine Bungard Henry. He lived a life marked by steady devotion, quiet strength, and a warm presence that will be remembered by all who knew him. He was known to family and friends simply as Buck, a name that suited his friendly nature and enduring spirit.
He spent around 30 years in Euclid, Ohio, before later making his home in Johnson City, Tennessee. Throughout his working years, he spent many years selling tool and die, a career that reflected his strong work ethic and dependable character. Buck took pride in doing his work well and in building lasting relationships along the way.
Buck was a faithful member of Wesley Memorial UMC in Johnson City, where he found fellowship and community. His faith was an important part of his life, and he valued the friendships and support he shared through his church family. He was also deeply involved in fraternal organizations and was a 50-plus-year member of the Masonic Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star. He was a Past Master of East Shore #709 Masonic Lodge (now Lyndhurst #508) and Past Patron on Mayflower Chapter #430 OES (now Western Reserve #71) in Ohio. In Tennessee, he was a member of Johnson City Masonic Lodge #486 and Past Patron of Nolachuckey-Grand View Order of the Eastern Star #194. He was also a member of the Jericho Shrine. These affiliations were a meaningful part of his life, and he appreciated the bonds of service, tradition, and friendship they represented.
Buck enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. He loved classic cars and would tell you the make, model, and year as one passed by. He enjoyed watching golf. When he was younger, he played golf every Saturday morning with his buddies. He was also an avid football fan. He followed the Cleveland Browns with great loyalty and enthusiasm, and he took genuine joy in the game.
He is survived by his daughters, Jeanette Jewell & husband Jerry, and Susan Henry Horne. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Rebecca Duchon, and his nephews, Jonathan Duchon, Adam Duchon, Christopher Duchon, and Floyd Turner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rachel Kapferer Henry.
Buck’s family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday, April 1st, 2026, at Snyder’s Memorial. The funeral service will follow with Rev. Caleb Frazier officiating. Masonic and Eastern Star Rites will also be conducted to honor Buck’s service and memory.
The interment service will be private for the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Wesley Memorial UMC at https://giving.servantkeeper.com/WesleyMUMC.
