Eric Thomas Roberts, 53, passed away peacefully at Johnson City Medical Center on Thursday, May 18, 2023, in Johnson City, Tennessee. Born and raised in Gray, TN, Eric had a great love for his community and deeply cherished his time spent with his family and friends. Eric is remembered by many for his unique sense of humor, loving nature, and selfless spirit.
Preceded in death by his father William Roberts, Eric is survived by his mother Rosalee Roberts, sister Rebecca Cooper, nephews Logan (Megan) Cooper and Austin (Courtney) Cooper, and a good friend Bruce Horton, all of Gray, Tennessee. As a close-knit family, they shared many memorable moments and created everlasting memories full of love, laughs, and joy.
As a member of the Douglas Chapel, Eric deeply valued his faith and found solace in the community and teachings. His devotion to the church provided him with connections that extended beyond the congregation, allowing him to touch the lives of many and create strong bonds with those around him. Eric was known for making others feel welcome and valued, often offering a helping hand wherever it was needed.
Eric had a great range of interests that brought him happiness throughout his life. Among his many hobbies, he loved collecting hats. Additionally, he held a particular fascination for eagles, admiring their beauty, strength, and majesty. His love for eagles would often lead to engaging conversations, where Eric's passion was evident to those around him.
Behind Eric's unique sense of humor was a man with a compassionate heart. He touched the lives of many with his willingness to lend an ear, offer words of encouragement, or share in a laugh. Eric's effervescent personality brought smiles to the faces of those he met, providing a light in the darkest of times. It was his gentle nature that truly made Eric a pillar of strength in the lives of his loved ones.
His fun-loving attitude and warm-heartedness extended beyond his circle of friends and family. As a member of the Gray community, he was a familiar figure, often seen attending various local events. Generous and selfless, Eric's presence in the lives of those he met will be immeasurably missed.
As we reflect on the time shared with Eric, we are grateful for the laughter, love, and memories that he brought to each of our lives. His name will live on in the hearts of those he touched, forever remembered as a loving, funny, and selfless individual.
In the words of an Irish blessing, "May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand." Through our memories, Eric's spirit lives on in each of us, gently reminding us of the impact one person can have in so many lives.
Rest in peace, Eric Thomas Roberts - beloved son, brother, uncle, friend, and a cherished member of the Gray, Tennessee community. Your kindness, laughter, and love will never be forgotten.
The family will receive friends at Snyder’s Memorial from 6:00-7:00 pm, Wednesday, May 24, 2023. A memorial service will follow with Pastor Wayne Cole officiating.
