Florence Lorraine Duffield “Flo” was born on April 7, 1932, in Menahga, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2025. She was the beloved daughter of Anna and Fredrick Nelson and a proud first-generation American.
Flo was a woman of ferocious strength, deep love, and described as “a cool grandma” she had an undeniable sense of coolness—just ask her grandchildren. She spoke both Finnish and English, embodying the traditions of her heritage while building a life grounded in faith, love, and family.
Her faith was the foundation of her life. Flo loved God with all her heart and was passionate about sharing the gospel. She was an active member of Hosanna Fellowship, where she found joy in worshiping and growing in her faith. She devoted herself to prayer, regularly gathering with her prayer group to lift up the needs of others and seek the Lord. She wanted everyone to know the love of God and to hear the good news of Jesus Christ. Her life was a testimony of grace, kindness, and unwavering devotion to our Savior.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Duffield Sr., and her son, Allen Duffield. She is survived by her children, Allison Landucci (Fred) James Duffield (Teresa) and Brenda Duffield; her grandchildren, Peter Landucci (Jennifer), John Landucci (Sunghee) Gracie Massey (Brayden), Christine Burlison(Victor), and Tonya; and her great-grandchildren, Adam Landucci, Daniel Landucci, Sarah Landucci, Joseph Landucci, Abigail Landucci, Zander Duffield, Julie-Ann Massey, Emma-Rose Massey, Noah Burlison, Lucas Burlison, and Cassidy Burlison.
Flo’s life was filled with love and simple joys. She adored the color yellow, a fitting reflection of her warmth and brightness. She was a “McDonald’s grandma,” always there for breakfast with Peter and John and a cheeseburger lunch for Gracie. These small traditions became cherished memories, a testament to the way she loved—with presence, consistency, and a touch of fun.
Her legacy lives on in the faith she shared, the prayers she prayed, and the love she poured into her family and community. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten, and we rejoice in knowing she is now in the presence of the Lord she loved so much and knowing we will see her again.
Flo’s family will receive friends from 4:00-5:30 PM on Monday, February 17, 2025, at Snyder’s Memorial. The funeral service will follow with Pastor Matthew Wine officiating.
The graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Snyder’s Memorial Gardens.
