Gary Templin Obituary

Because “All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, And its flower falls away, But the word of the Lord endures forever.” Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.
I Peter 1:24
-25 NKJV

Gary David Templin, 52, of Jonesborough went home to the Lord on Friday, March 9, 2018, at Johnson City Medical Center.

He was born on May 3, 1965, in Johnson City, the son of George D. and Patricia G. (Wooldridge) Templin. He married Monika R. Clark on September 30, 2000, in Sterling, Illinois.

He was educated in Greenville schools and graduated from Greenville High School class of 1983. In his lifetime he had been employed by Holston Methodist Children’s Group Home, Youth Detention Center, State of Tennessee O&A Center, Western Southern Insurance, and IFH Group (Rock Falls, Illinois). The job he most enjoyed was spending every day with his daughter when a major medical event in 2004 left him disabled and unable to return to work.

He was raised to love the Lord and know his Scripture, at the time of his passing he was a member of Abounding Grace Baptist Church.

Gary truly enjoyed meeting new people who almost always became friends, time with his family, and continuing the love of pen making and woodworking passed down by his father and grandfather.  He loved to learn about everything and how things worked.

Gary is survived by his mother Pat Templin - Johnson City; his wife Monika - Jonesborough; his daughter Grace - Jonesborough; his brother Jim (Robin) Templin of Gray, TN; cousins in TN and NH; numerous friends; and his faithful dogs Jax and Saldy.

He was preceded in death by his father, maternal, and paternal grandparents.

Receiving of friends will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, from 4 pm to 6 pm at Abounding Grace Baptist Church, 1025 Depot Street, Jonesborough, TN 37659. The Celebration of Life will follow at 6 pm with Pastor Kevin Morris officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial be made in Gary's memory to Washington County Animal Shelter (3411 N Roan Street, Johnson City, TN, 37601) or Abounding Grace Baptist Church land fund.
