Gray, TN – Gether Irick, Jr.
Gether Irick Jr., went home to be with his lord and savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, December 16, 2017, at Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport, TN at the age of 81.
Gether, was of the Christian faith and was a member of Crossroads Christian Church in Gray, TN.
Mr. Irick was born in Stone, KY. on January 29, 1936, to the late Gether Sr. & Myrtle Dotson Irick. He received an undergraduate degree from Eastern Kentucky University, he also received a Ph.D. as an organic chemist from the University of Louisville and he retired from Eastman Chemical Co. after 50 yrs of employment. Mr. Irick had lived in the Gray and Kingsport areas for 57 years, he enjoyed hiking and had hiked the Appalachian Trail twice.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Irick was preceded in death by two sons Tim and Steve Irick.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife Sarah Wilson Irick, two daughters Beth & husband David Renfro, Luci & husband Andy Creech; a son, Andy Parris; sister Vicki Pagliaro; ten grandchildren Zack and Blake Irick, Tori & husband Morgan Smith, Levi and Jared Everroad, Drew and Cari Creech, Dasha Ageeva, Sadie and Matthew Renfro.
A celebration of life service will be held at Crossroads Christian Church on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at 7:00 PM. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the church with Pastor Clint Andrews and Steve Erwin officiating.
