Helen "Sue" Lane Obituary

Helen “Sue” Lane, known affectionately as Sue to her friends and family, was called to her heavenly home on March 4, 2026, at the age of 88, in Kingsport, TN. Born January 8, 1938, in Scott County, VA, Sue was a beacon of love and faith throughout her life.

Sue was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Carl Lane, her devoted parents, Hazel & Carroll Stallard, and her cherished son, Rick Lane. Her legacy of love continues through her three daughters, Melinda Tate and her husband David, Gwen Lane and her fiancé Woody, and Lucy Willis and her husband Johnny. Sue’s brother, Lee Stallard, her sister, Jayne Lawson, her brother, Jerry Stallard, her 13 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces & nephews, will all hold dear memories they shared with her.

A proud graduate of Gate City High School in Gate City, VA, as well as Secretary School, Sue dedicated many years of service as a facilities employee at Weber City Elementary School. Her commitment to her community and her steadfast work ethic were hallmarks of her character.

Sue’s Christian faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was a cherished member of Christ Fellowship Church, where she joyously served in various capacities. Her love for working with children, greeting fellow worshipers, and participating in the Prime Timers group reflected her dedication to her faith and her church family.

An avid bowler, Sue found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as gardening and her family photo collections. Those hobbies were a testament to her ability to elevate beauty and preserve precious moments.

Described by those who knew her as loving, selfless, and gentle, Sue’s life was a living example of the well-known verse, “And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love” Corinthians 1 (13:13). Her unwavering love for her family, her friends, and her Lord was evident to all who had the privilege of crossing her path.

Sue’s life was a testament to the values she held dear, and her influence will be felt for generations to come. Her gentle smile, kind words, and selfless actions left an indelible mark on the hearts of those she encountered. As we celebrate her life and mourn her passing, we find comfort in knowing that Sue’s spirit lives on through the love she shared and the faith she exemplified.

We bid farewell to Helen “Sue” Lane, a cherished soul, whose memory will forever be a blessing to all who knew her. Her journey on earth has ended, but her story of love and faith will continue to inspire. May she rest in peace in the loving arms of her Saviour
