James Wayne Miller

James Wayne Miller, 82, a lifelong resident of Washington County, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, farmer, and businessman, Wayne was known for his strong work ethic, generous spirit, and deep love for his family.

Born on February 13, 1944, he was the youngest child of the late Elsie Love Hampton Miller and James M. Miller. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Susan Elizabeth Miller; his brothers, John Hurley, Bob, Charles, Allen, and Joseph Miller; and his sister, Alma.

Wayne is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Iva and Tim Wallace. He was a proud and loving grandfather to James and Lili Wallace, Gavin and Bryce Wallace, and Katy and Austin Boyd. His family was the center of his life, and he found great joy in their accomplishments and in the time they spent together.

A hardworking and independent man, Wayne was self-employed and operated Porky’s Apex for many years while also maintaining his lifelong passion for amateur radio (KJ4JDE) and farming. He loved his horses and took great pride in caring for them. Whether working on the farm, tending to his business, or helping those around him, Wayne approached life with a simple philosophy: “Work hard, play hard.” When he was not working, Wayne enjoyed spending time on Boone Lake, where he made countless memories with friends and loved ones.

Wayne’s legacy is one of hard work, perseverance, and unconditional love. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
