James "Reggie" R. Lett

James R. “Reggie” Lett, age 73, of Piney Flats, TN, passed away on April 24, 2026, in Port Richey, FL. He was born on January 22, 1953, in Johnson City, TN, the son of the late James B. Lett and the late Eleanor Christine Utsman Lett.

Reggie was a native of Washington County, TN, and he lived in Piney Flats, TN, for the past 35 years. He carried with him throughout his life the values of faith, family, hard work, and friendship.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Charlene Cox. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathea Rhodes Lett; his sister, Sharon Russell; several nieces and nephews; and many cousins who will cherish his memory.

Reggie was a proud graduate of East Tennessee State University, where he earned degrees in Speech and Political Science and graduated cum laude. He valued education and carried the discipline and determination he developed through his studies into every part of his life. His professional career included many years of service with East Tennessee Natural Gas, where he retired after a long and dedicated tenure. He was respected by those who worked alongside him and appreciated for his dependable nature and strong work ethic.

Faith was an important part of Reggie’s life, and he was a member of Fountain of Life Bible Church. He found comfort and fellowship in his church family and treasured the relationships he built there. The family extends appreciation and love to everyone who has called on the home and to his church family for the assistance, love, and care they have provided. Their kindness and support were deeply meaningful and will always be remembered with gratitude.

Reggie enjoyed life’s simple and meaningful pleasures. He was an avid fisherman and scuba diver, and he found joy in the peace of the water and the adventure of exploring the world around him. After retiring, he loved to travel and embraced the opportunity to see new places and make lasting memories.

Reggie’s family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 PM on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Fountain of Life Bible Church, located at 118 Julie Ln., Johnson City, TN. The service to celebrate his life will follow with Dr. Vic Young officiating.
