Jerry Nave Obituary

Jerry Allen Nave, 68, from the Boones Creek community went to be with his Heavenly Father Thursday, September 14, 2017, after a lengthy illness.

Jerry was born in Lebanon, VA, on March 18, 1949, to the late Harry & Enola Bush Shepherd Nave, the family moved the following year to Boones Creek, TN. He graduated from Boones Creek High School and played basketball for Coach Bobby Snyder. He was also in the Army Reserves for six years. Jerry worked in several plants in the area including ITT North Electric, Dresser, and Sperry. He retired from FACE Amusement Group, Gray, TN, in May of 2017, with over 20 years of service.

He married the love of his life, Diane, in 1968 and they were married for 49 years. Jerry was a charter member of Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church and served as a deacon, children’s church, and VBS helper. He enjoyed fishing, looking for deer & turkeys, all Daniel Boone High School sports, and was an avid Tennessee Volunteer fan. Jerry dearly loved his church family, and he also enjoyed spending time with his family, even if it was at a beach.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his brother, Harry E. Nave Jr.; sister, Margaret Shepherd Singleton; brothers-in-law, Harry Hull, Ted King, Neville Wiggs, & Ronnie Brock; sister-in-law, Hyon Ae Brock; niece, Tracy Lynn Brock; great nephew, Bradley Allen Miller; and in-laws, Joseph Daniel (J.D.) & Mahalia Burrell Brock.

Left to cherish his memory are; his loving wife, Diane Brock Nave of the home, his daughter, Lisa Nave Fleenor of Gray, grandchildren, (the lights of his life) Jarrett Preston Fleenor & Cassidy Elizabeth Fleenor, brother & sisters, Bobby Joe Shepherd, Gray; Sue Shepherd King, Gray; Edith Shepherd Hull, Camp Springs, MD; Linda Nave Jones (Melvin), Greeneville, a brother-in-law, Dewey Singleton; sisters-in-law, Jane Brock Wiggs, Ruby Clouse Brock & Betty Nave, many wonderful nieces & nephews, and special friends Jeff, Debbie & Peyton Toth, Jack Holden, & Dickie Rice.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM on Sunday, September 17, at Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church, at 1916 Hwy. 81 South, Jonesborough, TN. The funeral service will follow at 7 PM with Pastor Perry Cleek and Evangelist Charles “Toonie” Cash officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at the Monte-Vista cemetery at 11 AM on Monday, September 18, with Pastor Perry Cleek officiating. Dennis King, Ned Wiggs, Jeff Toth, Rodney Metcalf, Jack Holden, Frank Arthur, Gary Brock & David Shanks will serve the family as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are the men of Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church, Dickie Rice, Bobby Snyder, Gary Sanders, Dale Sanders, Clarence Mabe, Peyton Toth and Logan Metcalf.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Building Fund at Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church in Jonesborough, TN in Jerry's memory.
