Obituary

Julian Moore- Johnson City, TN

Julian G. “Tad” Moore, 69, passed away on November 18, 2022, after an extended illness.  He was born in Memphis, TN, to the late Dr. J.G. (Bud) and Jane (Boyd) Moore.

Tad grew up in Erwin, TN, where he attended Unicoi County High School.  He graduated from Tennessee Military Institute in Sweetwater, TN, and then went on to attend the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN.

Tad worked for a time as a tennis professional, and was also an avid golfer, competing in many local tournaments. He developed the Apple Dash bike race that was held during the early years of the Apple Festival in Erwin.  Tad spent several years as a truck driver as both owner/operator and company driver.  His interest in architecture led him to design and build homes as well as to restore a historic property in Knoxville.  In later years, he developed a passion for photography and he traveled the country, capturing beautiful landscapes, racing, and professional football pictures.

Tad was known for his quick wit and humor and will be greatly missed by his many friends and family.   He is survived by his sister, Melynda Whetsel (husband Bob); a nephew, Jackson all of Knoxville, TN; and a brother, Martin Moore (wife Paige), of Jacksonville, FL.
