Kathy Nora McNutt, born on October 16, 1953, in Kingsport, TN, went to her eternal home on April 4, 2025, at Johnson City Medical Center. She was the beloved wife of Thomas A. McNutt III.
Kathy was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by her. We ask that you remember her for the profound impact she had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Kathy is preceded in death by her mother, Viola Mae Ferguson, father, Frank Nelson Ferguson, and stepmother, Una-V Ferguson. She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas A. McNutt III, children Misti and Dean Hill, Shayna and Wes Painter, grandchildren Megan Bowers (Troy), Morgan Woodward (Ashley), Henry and Caroline Painter. Great grandchildren, Amelia Bowers and Jaxson Woodward. She is also survived by her sister Linda Long (Bill) and brother Frank Ferguson, sister-in-law Jackie Leonard, and many nieces and nephews.
Kathy retired from Eastman Chemical Company after a long career in maintenance and CE division. She was an active member of Crossroads Christian Church. She was a former Boys & Girls Club board member, Big Brother Big Sister Mentorship Program Member, Meals on Wheels Delivery, Pharohs Car Club, and was heavily involved with the Rock Springs Community for many years.
Kathy enjoyed camping, gardening, and entertaining. She won many Kingsport Beautification awards for her lush flower and botanical gardens. Her pride and joy was the time she was able to spend with her precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She spent many weekends traveling all over with Tom in their 1934 Ford, attending car shows. When she wasn’t attending baseball games or car shows, she was cooking for church fish frys and making funnel cakes for hundreds.
Kathy's family will receive friends on Thursday, April 10, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Crossroads Christian Church. A Celebration of Life will follow, with Minister Clint Andrews and Pastor Evan Wolfe officiating.
