Keith W. Knowlton- Erwin, TN
Keith W. Knowlton, 58, of Erwin, Tennessee, passed away at the Johnson City Medical Center, in Johnson City, Tennessee, on Saturday evening, October 8, 2022. Keith was born August 29, 1964, in Monroe, Michigan, to the late Charles William and Betty Jean Taylor Knowlton.
Keith became a father in 1997 when he married Susie and her three children. The family lived in Jefferson City, TN before moving back to Erwin in 2011.
Keith was always an extremely hard worker. In his younger years, he was a foreman with Centimark Roofing, where was employed for 22 years. He worked with several other companies but was currently employed with Duncan Mechanical as a welder.
Keith was humble, kind, and caring. He always gave God credit for all his blessings, he was notorious for rescuing discarded items that he would “repurpose”. He believed everything and everybody deserved a second chance. He could be called on anytime day or night to help someone in need. He was happiest when he was giving. He was especially kind, helpful and respectful to his mother-in-law, Betty. He will be missed by all that knew him.
Those left to cherish Keith’s memory include His devoted wife of 25 years, Karen Sue “Susie” Knowlton; one daughter, Allison Gentry of Johnson City, Tennessee; two sons, Matthew Gentry of Erwin, Tennessee, and Hunter Gentry & wife Taylor, of Morristown, Tennessee; one sister, Barbara Young & husband Terry, of Monroe, Michigan; four grandchildren Kennedy Gentry, Xyla Gentry, Hunter Gentry, Jr., Kai Gentry; several nieces and nephews will also deeply miss Keith including his special nephews, Jeff Young, of Monroe, Michigan, and Terry “Poke” Young & wife Christy, of Bryson City, North Carolina.
The family would like to thank 9-1-1 operator, Amanda Cottrell; Unicoi County Sheriff’s Office especially Sergeant Jeremy Rice, and Captain Chad Ricker; EMT Tim Roberts and all others who responded; the Unicoi County Emergency Room staff; Appalachian Highlands Air Ambulance; and Johnson City Medical Center/Ballad Health staff for their valiant efforts, kindness, and compassion. Also a very special thank you to Danny Duncan and the employees of Duncan Mechanical.
A celebration of Keith’s life will be held by his family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Keith’s honor to St. Jude’s Children's Hospital or to the Unicoi County Animal Shelter.
