Kimberly Hathaway Obituary

Kimberly Wynn Hathaway-Johnson City, TN

Kimberly Wynn Hathaway, 56, of Johnson City, TN fell asleep in death on February 27, 2017 at the Johnson City Medical Center after a brief battle with cancer. She was a 1979 graduate of Science Hill High School. Kim loved music, traveling, tasting different foods with her "Tood Four" girls and she loved her many, many friends. Kim loved life and lived it to the fullest. She was born in Johnson City, TN on February 21, 1961.  She loved the mountains, but her heart was happiest at the beach. She lived in and around Myrtle Beach, SC from 1981 until 2005 when she headed back to the mountains to be closer to her family.

Preceding her in death are her maternal grandparents Hollis "Jack" and Pina McIntosh and her paternal grandmother, whom she had a very special relationship with, Rose Hathaway. She was also preceded in death by her brother-in-law Charles "Chuck" Chatman.

Survivors include her parents, James and Mavis (McIntosh) Hathaway of Johnson City. Her brother, Kevin Hathaway of Johnson City and Sister Kelly Chatman of Gray, TN. Two nephews, Kevin James "KJ" Hathaway and wife Stephanie of Johnson City and Jameson Chatman and wife Brandy of Knoxville, TN. Three great-nieces and a great-nephew, whom she loved dearly and spoiled regularly, Madison Chatman of Greeneville, TN. Marley and Cillian Chatman of Knoxville, TN and Haley Hathaway of Johnson City, TN., and special family friends Herb and Casey Myers of Knoxville, TN and their family. She is also survived by an extensive family of aunts, uncles, cousins and her many, many close friends who are too numerous to mention by name but were loved and cherished equally.

Thank you to all who helped out by sitting with Kim, bringing food, sending cards and just being there for Kim and her family. Special thanks to all the staff on 4500 at JCMCH who went above and beyond each time they were assigned to Kim. It is difficult to mention each by name, but they all became family to us during the weeks Kim was there. Again, thank you.

Upon Kim's wishes, she will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held on March 18, 2017 at 3 pm at Snyders Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, 5913 Kingsport Hwy, Gray, TN 37615.  The service will be conducted by Gilbert Carter of the Johnson City congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.  Honorary pallbearers are James Miller, Cory Hughes, Dustin Tarlton, Nicholas Draper, Missy Bennett, Larent Gregg and JoBeth Bulla.
