Lyda Ann (Routh) Millhorn

Lyda Routh Millhorn, aged 85, passed away peacefully at her home in Gray, TN, on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. Born on July 8, 1939, in Saltville, VA, she was the beloved daughter of the late William Nelson and Gussie Frye Routh. Lyda, known for her warm smile and generous heart, dedicated her life to her family and community.

Lyda is survived by her devoted husband, Jimmie R. Millhorn, her loving children, Randy Millhorn and Lisa Millhorn Barnett (Joe), her cherished sister, Norma Jean Routh Salyer, her very special niece, Brogan Jessee, and her precious nephew, Brigham Jessee. Her memory will be treasured by several nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Mary Routh Prater, W.A. "Buddy" Routh, Dorothy "Dot" Routh Guinn, Ercelle Routh Collins, Billie Routh Woliver, Harry Routh, R.D. Routh, and Paul Routh.

A 70-year resident of the local area, Lyda's roots ran deep in the community. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, where she found strength and solace in her faith. Lyda's educational journey in Saltville laid the foundation for the wisdom she imparted to all she knew.

As a fantastic mother, Lyda was unparalleled. Her cooking brought the family together, and her recipes will be savored for generations to come. Lyda's love for the great outdoors shone through her passion for camping and her delight in the company of hummingbirds and cats.

Lyda will be remembered as a loving and friendly soul, whose passion for life was evident in every gesture of kindness she extended. Her legacy endures in the lives of those she touched and in the beauty of nature she adored. Her departure leaves a void that can only be filled by the fond memories she leaves behind.

Lyda’s family will receive from 4:30 – 6:00 PM on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Harmony Baptist Church. A memorial service to honor her memory will follow with Pastor Steve Pate and Evangelist Charles “Toonie” Cash officiating. Dinner for Lyda’s family will be provided in the FLC immediately following the service.
