Margaret Dailey Obituary

Margaret Ann (Kassebaum) Dailey of Kingsport, TN, passed away Thursday, December 13, 2018, at Holston Valley Medical Center with a member of her family by her side.  She was looking forward to being with her Heavenly Father.

Margaret, known to most as Peggy, was born September 30, 1942, in Hollis, Queens, New York, to Henry F. and Margaret G. Kassebaum. She attended St. Claire’s School of Nursing in New York and was a registered nurse (R.N.) in both Florida and Tennessee. As a registered nurse she performed many functions including critical care and intensive care nursing, occupational health coordinator, and R. N. supervisor while living in St. Augustine, Florida. Margaret moved to the Kingsport area 7 years ago and was a parishioner of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church where she served on the Parish Council.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents.  She is survived by her brother, Robert Kassebaum (VA), her nephew, Kirk Kassebaum (FL) and her cousin Deborah Kopsick (VA).

Margaret had many interests, including Tae Kwon Do, for which she earned a Black Belt; knitting; gardening; and baking. Margaret’s greatest love was volunteering, helping those in need, especially the hungry, through various ministries in St. Augustine and Kingsport. She believed her Heavenly Father had blessed her life abundantly and wanted to give thanks and praise for these blessings by giving back to her community.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 5, 2019, from 9:00 – 11:00 am, with a Memorial Mass following at 11:00 at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church, located at 2517 N John B Dennis Highway, Kingsport, TN.  Father Michael Cummins will officiate.

The family would like to give thanks to the nurses at Holston Valley Medical Center who took such good care of Margaret and to her friends and fellow Church parishioners who showed her so much kindness.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Margaret’s name to Morning Hope Breakfast Ministry at Mafair Methodist Church, 1409 E. Center St., Kingsport, TN 37664 and/or Hunger First, 829 Myrtle St., Kingsport, TN  37660, to help carry on Peggy’s mission to feed the hungry.
