Marshall Thomas Herron, 82, of Gray, TN, passed away on May 13, 2025, at Johnson City Medical Center due to intestinal failure. Born on March 20, 1943, in Gate City, Virginia, he was the son of the late Milburn and Irene Louthan Herron.
Marshall grew up in Gate City, VA, and had made his home in Gray, TN, for the past 60 years, becoming a well-respected figure in the local area. He was a proud alumnus of the University of Tennessee, where he earned his engineering degree. His astuteness and passion for his field led him to a rewarding career at Eastman Chemical Co., from which he retired before venturing into self-employment in quality management.
A devoted family man, Marshall leaves behind his beloved wife, Brenda Gayle Greene Herron, and their sons, Todd Herron (Dayanara) of Athens, GA, and Sean Herron of Gray, TN. Marshall's love and lessons will live on through his grandchildren, Brigett Herron Creney (Scott), Summer Herron Austin (Dylan), Brittani Herron, Tyler Herron (Abby), Cameron Herron (Katrine), Taylor Robison Herron, and Breanna Herron, as well as his great-grandchildren, Noam Creney, Rainey Austin, Harper Austin, and Arrow Herron.
Beyond his family and professional life, Marshall was an enthusiastic member of the United States Power Squadrons and found solace and joy in boating. His passion for the water was well-known among his friends and colleagues, who often heard tales of his maritime adventures.
Marshall’s family will receive friends from 12:30 - 2:00 on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Snyder’s Memorial. The funeral service to honor Marshall will follow. Family and friends will then proceed to the cemetery, also located at Snyder’s Memorial, to lay Mr. Herron to rest.
