Nancy Carolyn (Snapp) Scherer

Nancy Scherer- Gray, Tennessee

Nancy “Carolyn” (Snapp) Scherer, 77, of Gray, Tennessee, passed away at the Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tennessee, on Tuesday, September 28, 2021.  Nancy was born on June 27, 1944, in Blountville, Tennessee, to the late Roy and Mary Gray Snapp.

Nancy was a native of Blountville and had lived outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania until 2009 when she moved to back Gray, Tennessee. Nancy was a 1962 graduate of Blountville High School.  She worked at Montgomery Hospital for 37 years until she retired to take care of her husband.  Before retiring she was a foster mother for a short time until she was blessed with her daughter, which was one of the happiest events of her life.  She was of the Christian faith and baptized at the age of 12 at Fall Creek Baptist Church.  She enjoyed spending prayer time with God daily.  One of her favorite sayings to live by was “I worry not, God’s got this!”  She loved her dogs, hummingbirds, and gardening with her “green thumb”.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, Chester R. Scherer; and her brother, Douglas M. Snapp. 

Those left to cherish Nancy’s memory include her daughter Robin Ramsey and husband Shawn; sisters, Mary Ann Reese, Ethel Smawley, Cathy Hughes, Esther Toohey, and Susan Snapp; brothers, Herbert “Jake” Snapp and Bill Snapp; two grandchildren, Jake “Bubba” and Mason “Tank” Ramsey; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Her Celebration of Life and Interment Service will be held at the Mountain Home National Cemetery, on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made in Nancy's name to your local animal shelter or to the leukemia foundation; and of course cards are greatly appreciated.
