Nell May (Heaton) Feathers

Nell May Heaton Feathers, 91, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Franklin Woods Community Hospital in Johnson City, TN. Born May 12, 1933, in Dante, VA, she was the daughter of the late France Caine & Martha Buchanan Heaton.

Nell built a life alongside her beloved late husband, Floyd Feathers, and together they raised a wonderful family that included their late son, Floyd Thomas Feathers, Jr., and their devoted children, Pamela Jones (Gerald) of Gray, Mellissa Moore (Randy) of Illinois, David Feathers (Linda) of Gray, Jeffrey Feathers (Lisa) of Carter County, and Clinton Feathers (Debbie) of Hemingway, SC. She is also survived by 18 loving grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Her memory will be honored by them as well as by the numerous nieces and nephews who benefited from her warmth and wisdom.

Dedicated to her family, Nell excelled in her role as a homemaker. She retired from Parks Belk Service Center in Gray, TN. She had a devout connection to her faith community as a member of Liberty Church in Kingsport, TN. Her hobbies, which included crocheting, cooking, and caring for children, brought joy not only to her but also enriched the lives of those around her.

She enjoyed riding in the mountains and going out to eat with work friends. She enjoyed reading her Bible and daily Bible study. She also enjoyed watching golf, football, and Matt Dillon.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 16, 2024, from 11:00 – 12:00 PM. The funeral service will follow with Pastor Gary Gentry of Liberty Church officiating. Pastor Victor Young of Fountain of Life Bible Church will lead a special prayer. The graveside side service will follow at Gray Community Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.
