Phyllis Ann Wilson Finley- Gray/Kingsport, Tennessee

Phyllis Wilson Finley, 68, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.  Mrs. Finley was born on September 8, 1951, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Raymond Bernard and Hester Ann Cannaday Wilson.  She was native to Martinsville, Virginia. She had lived in the        Kingsport/Gray area for around 40 years.

Mrs. Finley was a 1969 graduate of Martinsville High School and a 1973 graduate of James Madison University where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in education.  Mrs. Finley was a teacher for around 40 years, and she taught 25 years at Cedar View Christian School in Kingsport, Tennessee.  She was a born again Christian and a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, dedicated teacher, and volleyball coach; she was a Seahawk through and through, and was lovingly referred to as “Coach Finley”.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Finley was preceded in death by her husband Joe Finley.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Josh Finley; her daughter Jessica Mullins and husband Scott; her granddaughter; Sandra Mullins her brothers Ronnie Wilson & wife Betty, and Ken Wilson & wife Martha.

The family will receive friends and family on Saturday, October 26, 2019, from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Cedar Creek Baptist Church, 262 Cedar Creek Road, Gray, TN. A funeral service will follow beginning at 3:00 PM with Pastor Robert Fultz and Principal Timothy Strickland officiating. 

Mrs. Finley will be interred at Mountain Home National, Cemetery on Monday, October 28, 2019, at 11:00 AM.  Serving as pallbearers will be: Ken Strickland, Darren Mauk, Alan Seaver, Robin Horner, Gerald Gray, and Jeff Urich.
