Phyllis Irlene Hamilton, 91, of Piney Flats, TN, lived a life marked by dedication, love, and Christian faith before closing her earthly chapter on July 21st, 2025, within the caring community of Lakebridge Health Care Center in Johnson City, TN.
Born on October 15th, 1933, to the late Arden and Catherine Hamilton, Phyllis blossomed amidst the verdant landscapes of her hometown. She carried with her the warmth of rural life, the devotion to her family, and the strength of her upbringing as she ventured into the world. Equipped with the skills and knowledge acquired as a graduate of Steed College, Phyllis embarked on a venerable journey of service at the Johnson City Memorial Hospital, later transitioning to the Johnson City Medical Center, where she was assigned employee number 1 —a symbol of her pioneering contribution and 69 years of unwavering commitment.
Muddy Creek Church was not only her spiritual home but also a testament to her devout Christian life. Phyllis found joy in the harmonies of Christian music, the teachings of the gospel, and the fellowship of her church community. Her faith was as much a guidepost in her life as it was a source of comfort to those she encountered.
Among those who treasured Phyllis's companionship are her special cousins, Bradley and Donna Bowers, along with her steadfast friends Joetta Dunn and Rhonda Reeves. They, alongside many others, will fondly remember the simple yet profound pleasures Phyllis cherished: the serene life on her farm, the tender rapport with her cows, and the pride and care she devoted to her blue hydrangeas, a vibrant echo of her grace and nurturance.
Phyllis's spirit was a reflection of her father's legacy, nurturing her as a 'daddy's girl.' This bond magnified in her a heartfelt appreciation for all things pure and pleasant – attributes that she bestowed upon her flowers and all life's creation that crossed her nurturing path.
The family extends a special thanks to Lakebridge Health Care Center and Princeton Transitional for the exceptional care and attention.
