Roger Mosley Obituary

Roger Mosley, a beloved resident of Johnson City, Tennessee, transitioned peacefully on August 9, 2023 at the age of 76. A distinguished serviceman, incomparable volunteer, devoted family man, and faith-filled member of his community, he left an indelible imprint on the hearts of those fortunate enough to know him.

Raised in Jonesborough, the son of the late Henry and Anna Sue Hodgin Mosley, Roger spent the majority of his life in Gray and Johnson City. He was a proud alumnus of Jonesborough Highschool and an accomplished graduate from East Tennessee State University where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business and Math. His thirst for knowledge prevailed throughout his lifetime, his intelligence shining through all his deeds.

Roger was a man of many commitments. He served faithfully and honorably in the Army National Guard for 8 years. With a heart full of service, he engaged willingly as a volunteer for the Gray Volunteer Fire Department, helping to keep his community safe. His contributions didn't end there; he was a cherished member of Gray Ruritan and was known to advocate the Gideon presence. His professional journey saw him commit over thirty years at Eastman Chemical, later spending eight years at the United States Postal Service. He also did contract work. Roger's commitment to hard work and service to his community was obvious to all who knew him.

Roger was a beloved member of Crossroads Christian Church and his faith was a cornerstone of his life. His spiritual strength was immense, and he carried his faith not just in his prayers, but also in his deeds. His generosity to others, coupled with his deep-rooted faith, made him remarkable in his community.

Between periods of duty and service, Roger found joy in golf, reading, and most importantly, family time. His precious family were the center of his world and were blessed with his unwavering love and support. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Chris Ann Ray Mosley, his treasured children, Adam Mosley (Melody), Norman Cooper, Jr. (Karen), Joni Denny (Jackie), Keri Cooper; grandchildren, Justin Denny (Jessica), Jordan Denny (Ashley), David Cooper (Kristen), Emily Cooper, Lucy Mosley, Ellie Mosley; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Denny, Cooper Denny, Weston Denny, Riley Cooper; sisters, Pam Mosley, Patsy Fish (Eddie); and sister-in-law, Teresa Mosley.
