Ronald “Ronnie” Lee Arthur, 78, of 565 Boring Chapel Rd, Gray, TN, passed away peacefully at Johnson City Medical Center on April 16, 2025. Born in Clinton, TN, on February 20, 1947, Ronnie was the son of the late William Elmer and Helen Davis Arthur. He lived in the Boones Creek area for 67 years.
Ronnie proudly served his country in the Vietnam War and later continued to exemplify the values of hard work and commitment through his 56-year membership with Local 538 Plumbers & Pipefitters. In addition, his membership with the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers stood testament to his dedication to his vocation and his fellow workers.
A family man, Ronnie's legacy is lovingly carried on by his children William Grant Arthur, Melisa Lee Arthur, and Trina Stewart. He took great joy in his role as a grandfather to Dalton Diaz, Shayla Perry, Kelly Holley (Michael), and Shelby Arthur, and as a great-grandfather to Ella, Riley & Easton Casdorph, Davis Lee & Rosston James Diaz, Ann Lee Johnson, Bryleigh Lynn Arthur & Weston Grant Anglin. His sister, Lois Matherly (James), also survives him, along with his many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ronnie was predeceased by his brothers, William Grant Arthur and Robert Lynn Arthur.
Outside of his professional achievements and family life, Ronnie had a passion for the outdoors. His love for fishing, camping, and building was well-known among his friends and family. A talented craftsman, he could build anything and took great pride in this ability. His resourceful nature will be warmly remembered and deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Ronnie embraced life with a vigor that inspired those around him, becoming a cherished part of countless lives. His impact and memory will endure, a comforting presence in the hearts of his loved ones. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Ronnie was renowned for his resilience and strength of character, particularly after successfully undergoing a heart transplant 6 years ago. This life-changing event instilled in him a profound appreciation for every new day.
A committal service to honor Ronnie will be conducted in the mausoleum chapel on Monday, April 21, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Washington County Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Bill Matherly, Jason Matherly, Mike Johnson, Dalton Diaz, Michael Holley, and Jason Anglin.
