Sharon Gail Chase, 66, a cherished pillar of her community and a beacon of love and faith, passed away on July 1, 2025, after a brief battle with cancer. Born on December 3, 1958, in Washington County, TN, she was the daughter of the late M.J. & Dorothy Sells.
Sharon, known fondly by all who loved her, spent her life in the Piney Flats community. A devout Christian, Sharon was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church in Johnson City.
Her family was the cornerstone of her life. As the loving wife of Steven D. Chase, she shared a journey of deep commitment and partnership. Together, they raised their children, Matthew S. Chase (Teresa) and Leah D. Payne (Jarrod), instilling in them the values of family and faith. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Janice Bise.
Sharon adored her role as Nana to her beloved grandchildren, Eli Payne, Tucker Chase, Brooks Chase, and Ellie Payne. Their growth and laughter were the highlights of her later years. She enjoyed watching her grandkids’ ballgames. She also held a special place in her heart for her nieces, Jennifer Chatman (Mark) and Melanie Hicks (Doug), along with her great-niece and nephews.
Beyond her family, Sharon was an active and committed member of her community. She contributed time and energy to the Piney Flats Community Chest and was a respected past leader of the local Awana club.
Sharon brought people together, not only through her community work but also through her everyday actions. She cultivated friendships, laughter, and love wherever she went.
Sharon’s family will receive from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Snyder’s Memorial located at 5913 Kingsport Hwy, Gray, TN. The funeral service to honor Sharon’s memory will follow with Pastor Rich Murray officiating. Family and friends will then proceed to the graveside service at Snyder’s Memorial Gardens to lay Sharon to rest.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Chase, Eli Payne, Tucker Chase, Brooks Chase, Doug Hicks, Mark Chatman and Jarrod Payne.
