Sharon Cole Obituary

Sharon Grace Sexton Cole, 81, of Gray, Tennessee, passed away on June 21, 2026, after a courageous battle with dementia.

Sharon was born on December 18, 1944, in Johnson City, Tennessee, to the late Ed and Gertrude Campbell Sexton. She lived in the Johnson City area her entire life and was a graduate of Boones Creek High School. On this same path of life, she met the love of her life, Jesse “Wayne” Cole, at Boones Creek High School 67 years ago, and together they built a life centered on faith, family, and devotion.

Sharon was a Christian who loved the Lord deeply and was a faithful member of Douglas Chapel Baptist Church. Her life was a testimony to her belief in Jesus Christ, and she found great joy in studying the Bible. She read the Bible through more than ten times and treasured every opportunity to learn from God’s Word. Sharon also loved to teach children, and many young hearts were blessed by her kindness, patience, and gentle spirit. The children she taught loved her dearly, and she left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Jesse “Wayne” Cole; her daughter, Lisa Tucker; her son, Jeff Cole; her son-in-law, Buddy Tucker; her daughter-in-law, Tracey Cole; her sisters, Linda, Carolyn, and Patricia; and 28 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Buddy, Bobby, and Ray Sexton.

Sharon’s family finds peace in knowing that she is now at the throne, worshipping and praising Jesus. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and her legacy will continue through the many lives she touched with her love, her teaching, and her steadfast devotion to God and family.

Sharon’s family will receive friends from 5:00 – 6:00 PM on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Snyder’s Memorial, located at 5913 Kingsport Hwy, Gray, TN. The funeral service to honor Sharon’s memory will follow with Pastor Wayne Cole officiating.
