Sidney Akins, 54, of Kingsport passed away unexpectedly at his residence Thursday, July 21, 2016. He was born in Sullivan County on February 10, 1963, to the late Luther Earl Akins Sr. and Rose Proffitt Akins Ball and remained in the area his entire life. Sidney was an automobile technician by trade and worked for over 30 years. In his spare time he enjoyed NASCAR, wrestling, and music. His favorite types of music were country music and southern rock. Over the years, he attended numerous concerts at Freedom Hall Civic Center. In addition to his parents, Sidney was preceded in death by a brother, Luther Earl Akins Jr. Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Sidney E. Akins and daughter, Rossetta Dockery- both of Sullivan County; brothers, Tony Albert Akins and wife, Donna of Blountville, David Allen Akins of Kingsport and Lee Andrew Akins and wife, Mary of Johnson City; nieces, Kathryn Rose Akins and Leeann Good; nephew, Michael Decater White and too many friends to list. Services for Sidney Akins are incomplete at this time and will be announced at a later date by Snyder's Memorial Gardens.
