It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Steve W. Milam, 73, a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend. Born on April 6, 1951, in Elizabethton, TN, Steve lived a full life enriched with the love of family and dedication to his community. His journey ended at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN, on September 2, 2024.
Steve was the loving husband to Lynda Gregg Milam, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage filled with laughter, support, and boundless affection. A beacon of love and an anchor of their family, he leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughters, Stephanie Milam (Dreama Pullon) and Cheyenne Gregg Fender (Jordy), who were the pride and joy of his life. The legacy of Steve's kind spirit, passion for faith, and zest for life will live on through his grandson, Marcellis Fender.
He is also survived by his brother, Roger Milam; his sister, Karen Tolson (Jerry); his niece and caretaker, Tarina Sherfey; his nephew, Charlie Miller, who was his assistant in anything he needed help with; his brothers-in-law, Ed Gregg (Joyce), Larry Gregg (Sandy); his sister-in-law, Fannie Compton; his best friends, Doug Garst and Dewey Hashbarger; several nieces and nephews who admired him deeply, and a host of many other close friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Clyde Willard & Irene Lucille Morris Milam, and his sister, Joan Ford.
Steve graduated from Elizabethton High School in 1969 and established himself as the reputable owner/operator of Southeastern Contracting. His expertise and handiness were matched by his loving and kind demeanor, which resonated strongly within his professional and personal circles.
As a man of Baptist faith and a proud member of Elks Lodge #1985 in Erwin, TN, Steve's spirit of giving and warmth was felt by all. His passions extended to the great outdoors, where he found joy in fishing and hunting.
The family of Mr. Milam will receive friends Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 12:00-1:00 PM at Snyder’s Memorial in Gray, TN. The celebration to honor Steve's life will follow with Pastor Ancel Presnell officiating.
