Steven Landon Vest (Steve) of Blountville, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on August 20th, 2020, after a very brave fight with a series of illnesses. Steve grew up and lived most of his life in the Kingsport area. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School. He spent the majority of his life working alongside his father, Landon Leon Vest at L&S Car Care as a mechanic and he loved coaching the city league, baseball teams.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Landon Leon Vest and Helen Madge Payne Vest, as well as his step-mother, Betty Gonzales Vest. Steve is survived by his wife, Becky Anderson Vest, and his children: His son, Michael Vest and Michael’s spouse, Lisa Vest, and Austin, Josh, and Justin (their children, Steve’s grandchildren); His daughter, Katrina Vest and her spouse, Garrett Leroy, and Jossalin, Jacqualine, and Logan Lane (their children, Steve’s grandchildren), and his step-daughter, Holli Hensley.
Steve is also survived by his siblings: Anthony Leon Vest (Tony) and Tony’s spouse, Sandy Poole Vest, and Shannon Vest (their daughter and Steve’s niece); Mary Jane Vest Austin and Mary Jane’s spouse, Joseph Michael Austin, and Michaela Shawn (their daughter and Steve’s niece); and Barbara Ann Vest Davis (Bobbi) and Bobbi’s spouse, Roderick Preston Davis (Rick) and their children, Jessica Ann Davis Fowler and her daughter Jordyn, and Robert Lee Davis and his spouse, Stacy Sholnick Davis. Steve is also survived by his step-sister, Felina Gonzales Justin, and her spouse, Kevin Justin.
There will be a Celebration of Life for friends and family on Tuesday, August 25th, 2020, from 5-8:00 pm, at Misty Waters Clubhouse, 780 Hamilton Road, Blountville, TN 37617. There will be an additional Celebration of Life for friends and family in the Spring of 2021. In lieu of sending flowers, donations may be sent to the Bridge Home Animal Shelter or the KPLAY Sports Council at 400 Clinchfield Street, Suite 100, Kingsport, TN 37660.
