Virginia "Ginnie" Christie Obituary

Virginia “Ginnie” Christie, 81, of Gray, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026, at home surrounded by family. Born January 4, 1945, in Bloomer, Wisconsin, Ginnie was the beloved daughter of the late Fremon and Luella “Bernice” Peterson. Her warmth, humor, and unmistakably spunky spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew and loved her.

Ginnie was a devoted wife to her late husband, Paul Christie, and a proud and loving mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her son, Jeff Christie; her siblings, Don Peterson and Pat Hartfield (Fred); and her grandson, Dillian Bamman. She is survived by her daughters, Kellie Tester and Jenilee Christie; her grandchildren, Andrew Tester (April), Nicole Tester, Lexee Christie, and Collin Christie; two great-grandchildren; and her sister, Judy Davis (Richard).

Ginnie made Gray her home beginning in 1981. She was raised in the Lutheran faith, which remained a meaningful part of her life. She also found tremendous comfort and companionship in her beloved cats, who were cherished members of her family.

Ginnie showed her love through cooking and was especially known for hosting holidays and bringing people together around her table. She was famous among family and friends for her potatoes — no matter how they were served, they were always unforgettable — and for her staple “cookie witches,” which became a signature traditional holiday treat.

She loved to be out enjoying life, especially dancing, where her youthful energy and joyful spirit truly shined. A proud Wisconsin native, Ginnie was a fiercely loyal and enthusiastic Green Bay Packers fan who rarely missed a game and never missed a chance to cheer on her team.

In quieter moments, she enjoyed cross-stitching and puzzles, hobbies that reflected her creativity. Above all, she treasured time spent with family, laughter shared over meals, and the traditions she created for those she loved.

Ginnie will be remembered for her quick wit, strong will, generous heart, and vibrant presence. Her memory will live on through the stories, traditions, and love she leaves behind.
