Weldon Rush, 82, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2024, at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN. Born in Lubbock, TX, on October 3, 1942, the son of the late Riley & Climmie Rush.
Weldon spent his formative years in Bentonville, AR, before dedicating his life to service as a jet mechanic in the US Air Force, a career that instilled in him the virtues of discipline and commitment.
Weldon lived in the Kingsport area for around 3 years. He found joy and contentment in simple pleasures such as hunting, fishing, and golfing, often recalling the cherished memories he made with his late wife, Nancy, until her passing in 2016.
Weldon's legacy is lovingly carried on by his family, including his daughter, Lisa Grindstaff; his son-in-law, Darin Jeffers; his son, John Rush; and his grandchildren – Dustin Jeffers (Kelsie), Carmenia Baker (Jeff), Kirsten Jeffers, Ashley Henderson (Alex), and Dakota Rush along with his six great-grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy, as well as the presence of several nieces and nephews who will miss his wise counsel and endearing nature. Weldon also leaves behind his caring sister, Nell Murphey. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy C. Rush.
Weldon's departure marks the end of a journey characterized by genuine warmth and wisdom. His life was a testament to his love for his family and the values he stood for. In remembering Weldon, we celebrate the remarkable man he was and the countless lives he touched with his generous spirit and kind heart.
