William Preston Barnett, 68, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026, in Johnson City, TN. Born on January 1, 1958, in Johnson City, TN, William remained a lifelong resident.

William's passion for the great outdoors led him to a fulfilling career as an arborist. For him, the trees he tended to were not just part of the landscape but were symbols of growing, living history that he was honored to preserve.

In his spare time, William was undoubtedly a simple country boy whose heartwarming smile and infectious laughter brought joy to all. He was the kind of person who brightened a room the moment he entered.

William's passing has left an immense void in the hearts of his family. He will be lovingly remembered by his sisters, Loretta Allen (Bob) and Norma Howell, as well as his cherished niece, Crystal Smith (Dan), and his nephews, Michael Peeks (Sharon), Christopher Peeks, and Steven Peaks. William was predeceased by his mother, Bessie Barnett, and his brother, Lawrence Barnett, Jr., "June Bug."

William's life was a testament to the simple truths that define a life well-lived. The family will honor his memory privately at a later date.
