Mr. William “Bucky” Buchanan- Jonesborough
Mr. William Edward “Bucky” Buchanan peacefully passed away at his home in Jonesborough, TN, on Tuesday, October 9, 2018. He was born in Washington County, TN, on August 23, 1947; son of the late Noah Edward and Ruby Drain Buchanan; grandson of the late L.E. Drain, Sr. & Eva Pearl Bayless Drain and the late Noah & Lourenda Buchanan. He was also preceded in death by his brother John Buchanan in 2015.
Bucky was a Christian and he trusted in the Lord. He was a member of East Unaka Christian Church as well as a former member of Fairhaven United Methodist Church.
Bucky graduated from Jonesborough High School in 1965. He enjoyed talking about football and had played during his high school years. He enjoyed watching Nascar, he also enjoyed participating in the Kenny Hawkins sports talk show in the mornings on WXSM. Bucky never met a stranger, he loved family get-togethers and was always the life of the party. Another passion of Bucky’s was working in his yard.
Bucky and his family lived in St. Petersburg, Florida, for several years. He worked many years installing carpet and operated his own business for several years after returning to Johnson City, TN. He also worked for Home Depot in both Tennessee and Florida.
Those left to cherish Bucky’s memory are: his best friend and former wife, Carol Deloach Buchanan of Johnson City, TN; his children: Renee’ Johnson of Erwin, TN, Scott Edward Buchanan (Tina) of Largo, FL, and Lourenda Pearl Cooper (Christopher) of St. Pete, FL; grandchildren: Brittney Lynn Johnson, Aric Brothers, and Alexander Edward Buchanan; a great-grandson Gannon Emery Johnson; the mother of his children Robin Carter Davis of Florida; step-children: Susan Rutherford, Teresa Booher (Jesse), and Doug Deloach (Beth); a step-grandson Lucas Deloach; a sister-in-law Cindy Stayer Buchanan; a special aunt and uncle Mac and Judy Drain Jenkins; 2 nieces: Amy Rigsby (Richard) and Heather Grindstaff (Jay); a nephew Johnathan Buchanan (Samantha); great-nieces and nephews: Hannah, Eric, Blake, Loren, Noah, Stella, and Avery; numerous cousins; many special friends; and his cat who was his special buddy, Sweet Thang.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Fairhaven United Methodist Church, 3131 W. Walnut Street, Johnson City, TN 37604, on October 19, 2018, beginning at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his name to the Washington County Humane Society in Johnson City, TN; or to a charity of your choice.
