William Allen Vance- Johnson City

 

William Allen Vance, 85, went home to be with his Lord on January 29, 2016. He departed this life from his home surrounded by his loving wife and daughter by his side. William was born on June 28, 1930 in Bristol, Tennessee to the late, John E. and Virgie Mae Bowery Vance and remained in the area most of his life.

William attended Skyline Heights Baptist Church in Johnson City and served in the US Airforce during the Korean War. He was a retired truck driver and enjoyed camping and traveling the United States. William Allen loved to be on the go, loved the Lord and loved to drive.

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Nelle Vance and brother, Gene Autry Vance.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 10 years, Edna Vance; daughter, Ouida Bush and husband, James; step daughters, Teresa Milhorn and fiancé, Richard Henley and Tammy Copley and husband, Steve; brother, Glen E. Vance and wife, Virginia; 6 grandchildren, Amy Crowder and husband, Ronnie, Amber Johnson and husband, Matt, David Gardner and wife, Michelle, Josh Milhorn and wife, Brittney, Adam Copley and Jessica Copley; 5 great-grandchildren, Anna and Jaylyn Gardner, Takoda Crowder, and Abigail and Taylor Milhorn; and his special dog, Raven.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Sweet, the staff at Mountain States Hospice and Lakebridge Healthcare.

A Celebration of Life will be held on February 7, 2016 at Skyline Heights Baptist Church at 2pm. Pastor Donald Page will officiate. There will be special music by Rod Montgomery and Sam Brackins. Josh Milhorn will be a special speaker at the Celebration.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Skyline Heights Baptist Church.
